Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about GetRelief and the application process.

No. GetRelief is a completely independent, privately operated platform. We have no affiliation with, and are not endorsed by, any government department, road traffic authority, municipality, or NATIS (the National Traffic Information System). We are a structured proposal submission service only.

No. Submitting an application through GetRelief does not guarantee any outcome. All decisions regarding the acceptance, reduction, or waiver of outstanding vehicle licence fees are made solely and independently by the relevant road traffic authority. GetRelief has no influence over those decisions.

No. GetRelief is not a debt counselling service and is not registered as a debt counsellor under the National Credit Act. We do not negotiate on your behalf, represent you legally, or manage debt on your behalf. We compile and submit structured settlement proposals to road traffic authorities — that is the extent of our service.

Submitting an application through GetRelief is free of charge. There are no subscription fees, submission fees, or hidden charges associated with the platform.

Required documents: (1) A clear copy of your South African ID document or, for companies, your CIPC certificate of incorporation. Strongly recommended: (2) Proof of your outstanding vehicle licence amount (e.g. a statement from the relevant licensing authority). Without proof of arrears, your application may be delayed.

Yes. South African-registered companies, close corporations, and other legal entities may apply, provided they are not under business rescue or liquidation and have outstanding vehicle licence fees on fleet vehicles registered to the entity.

The timeline depends on when enough applications are grouped into a campaign and when the relevant authority responds. GetRelief cannot commit to specific timelines as these are determined by external parties. We will keep you updated via your dashboard throughout the process.

Your personal information is processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). We collect only the information necessary to compile your settlement proposal. Your data is not sold to third parties. Please read our Privacy Policy for full details.

Once your application has been submitted, it enters our review queue. You will not be able to edit the core financial details after submission, but you may be asked to upload additional or replacement documents. Contact us if you notice an error after submission.

Traffic fines and vehicle licence fees are separate. GetRelief deals specifically with outstanding vehicle licence fees and associated penalties — not with traffic fine amnesty or fine reduction programmes. If you only have outstanding traffic fines, you do not qualify for this service.
